To Find and Modify Gaps

  1. Place a fence around the target linework.
  2. From the Topology Cleanup toolbox, select the Find Gaps tool.
  3. From the Find Gaps tool settings window, select a Mode type.
  4. Set Tolerance, Facetization, and Flag settings as appropriate.
  5. Accept a data point to accept the fence.

When gaps are repaired, circular arcs and curves are preserved as long as they are not part of a complex chain. Arcs and curves within complex chains are stroked before gaps are repaired. Since a new arc may have both its endpoints modified, the new arc is defined using the new endpoints and the mid-point of the original arc. This minimizes the displacement of the new arc with respect to its original position. Shortly, gaps are found and either repaired or flagged. A Results window shows the outcome.

Note: The results may be saved or appended to a text file by selecting the appropriate option from the Results window’s File menu.

Repairing gaps may create duplicate or similar elements. Elements shorter in length than the gap tolerance are removed.
